About our Speaker:

Jordan Mackenzie Pyle, M.S., is a doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology program at the University of Central Arkansas. She specializes in treating children, adolescents, and family units who have experienced trauma or exhibit problematic sexual behaviors related to maltreatment. Jordan also believes in bringing awareness to mind/body connection within the therapeutic experience. Jordan utilizes a Rogerian person-centered approach and believes in incorporating each client’s unique cultural and personal factors to help the client feel empowered and in control of their mental health journey.

Jordan completed a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Arkansas in 2019 and her bachelor’s degrees in both Psychologies and Forensic Science from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2015. For the past seven years, she has presented research at national, regional, and local conferences on topics ranging from child maltreatment to multicultural competencies in therapy. She was recently named the 2020 recipient of UCA’s Outstanding Graduate Instructor Award for her work with undergraduate students. After completing her doctorate, Jordan plans to further her passion for trauma work by contributing to evidence-based trauma/problematic sexual behavior treatments for individuals and their families. By doing so, she hopes to one day help break the cycle of abuse. In her spare time, Jordan enjoys naps and spending time in Oklahoma with her fiancé and their two cats.

Virtual Event – Book Discussion for “Improv Wisdom: Don’t Prepare, Just Show Up” by Patricia Ryan Madson

About this Event

Join us on Wednesday, March 3rd at 12pm CST for this virtual book club discussion on Improv Wisdom: Don’t Prepare, Just Show Up by Patricia Ryan Madson.

In an irresistible invitation to lighten up, look around, and live an unscripted life, a master of the art of improvisation explains how to adopt the attitudes and techniques used by generations of musicians and actors.

Let’s face it: Life is something we all make up as we go along. No matter how carefully we formulate a “script,” it is bound to change when we interact with people with scripts of their own. Improv Wisdom shows how to apply the maxims of improvisational theater to real-life challenges—whether it’s dealing with a demanding boss, a tired child, or one of life’s never-ending surprises. Patricia Madson distills thirty years of experience into thirteen simple strategies, including “Say Yes,” “Start Anywhere,” “Face the Facts,” and “Make Mistakes, Please,” helping readers to loosen up, think on their feet, and take on everything life has to offer with skill, chutzpah, and a sense of humor.

See you there!
