COVID-19 JULY UPDATE

COVID-19 Update

Updated July 2020

With the safety of you, your families, and our communities as our top priority, we are modifying our all OKWIT events from in-person events to virtual gatherings. Our Spring Retreat originally scheduled for April 2020 is postponed until further notice.

During this uncertain time, we are working to provide new remote ways to engage our membership. Please keep in touch with us through our social media, website, and membership e-newsletters as we announce online activities to foster interaction and education from your homes.

The threat of COVID-19 spread is being taken very seriously by OKWIT leadership, and we will continue to monitor the situation to make decisions for future events. As always, thank you for your support and participation in Oklahoma Women in Technology. Our hearts and thoughts are with all of you.

OKWIT Tulsa - Networking Happy Hour @ Nola's ...Creole & Cocktails
Networking for women is increasingly important to developing careers in tech. Let’s put networking into action at our Quarterly Networking event at Nola’s Creole and Cocktails! Come enjoy appetizers and a drink while you courageously introduce yourself and make new connections to help you grow in your career path and personal endeavors. The best way to get the most out of this networking activity is to be involved – so come prepared with an introduction and experiences of your own to share! This event is made possible by our corporate sponsors – Devon Energy and Pinnacle Business Systems.

OKC May Event: Tech Meets Art @ [Artspace] at Untitled
May 30 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
OKC May Event: Tech Meets Art @ [Artspace] at Untitled
Vast capabilities exist within our tech community, and we strongly believe in the value of considering all current options. For our networking happy hour, in collaboration with [Artspace] at Untitled, join us for an exploratory look at how technology can be utilized to create fantastical art and more. With breakout sessions from skilled instructor on fiber arts and technological crafts Kristal Boulden, and the chance to mingle with industry peers and meet new faces – discover something new and prepare to be inspired! Additionally, plan to check out the current exhibit featuring “Dislocated Histories” by David Crimson, which uses “old” processes of painting to speak on “new” processes or technologies. Cash bar and small plates will be provided by our corporate sponsors Devon Energy and Pinnacle Business Systems. Our art gallery venue is provided by [Artspace] at Untitled; free parking is available in the lot north of the gallery. Kristal Boulden is an academic librarian, educator, and maker. She currently serves as the Social Sciences & Humanities Librarian at the University of Oklahoma Libraries. Inthis role, she is the subject librarian for several academic departments and supports faculty and students in their teaching, learning, and research. An avid hand knitter, Kristal is passionate about fibers, textiles, and empowering people to learn handcrafts. She also coordinates and teaches fiber arts workshops at OU Libraries’ makerspace, Innovation @ the Edge. Kristal earned her Master of Library and Information Studies from the University of Oklahoma and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tulsa.
