Jilian Doll

May 8, 2016 by OKWIT

JilianDollWhere did you go to school?

I graduated in 2007 with a BS in Marketing from Messiah College in Grantham, PA.

Describe the type of work you do:

As a Sr. Inside Sales Rep, my responsibilities include working closely with manufacturers and distributors to obtain best pricing and create customer proposals.  I also work hand-in-hand with the sales and engineering teams to effectively communicate with manufactures and distributors a customer’s needs and wants.  Additionally, I help manage vendor relationships and in area of team leadership to ensure day-to-day tasks and activities are running smoothly.

What led you to a career in technology:

As a college graduate, I knew that I wanted to relocate out of the Northeast.  I had taken computer science courses in both high school and college, and found them intriguing, but wasn’t sure if it was a path that I wanted to follow.  I put my resume on Monster.com and received a phone call from Dell, who, after interviewing me, was willing to hire me for a position in Oklahoma.

Why are you an OKWIT member?

I hate to see women under-represented in a field that we can easily be excelling in.

Tell us about your favorite book, TV show, or movie:

I am an avid reader, so don’t truly have a favorite book or movie beyond those that I am engrossed in at any particular time.  I will say that I love to be swept away in the story and taken someplace else.  Some of my all time favorites would have to be Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell, Cannery Row by John Steinbeck, the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb, and the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling (of course).

What type of music do you listen to?

More alternative rock than anything.

If you had a day off with no responsibilities, how would you spend it?

A day down the shore, intermittently in the water boogie boarding and laying on the beach being lazy with a good book, followed by a night on the boardwalk eating pizza, boardwalk fries, and funnel cake, riding roller coasters that you’re sure haven’t been inspected in years.

What is your favorite app?

Reddit Is Fun

What would we find in your fridge?

Leftover pizza, avocados, and green tea.

If you could change one thing in today’s society, what would it be?

The way people view and treat each other.  In the words of Rodney King – “Can we all get along?”
